Get to know MidwestMidwest constructs steel transmission pipelines to CSA Z662 across Western Canada. We bring field experience to natural gas and liquids projects, from early constructability reviews through installation, testing and reclamation.
New and replacement natural gas and liquids pipelines, from facility connections to major mainline spreads. Work includes clearing and access, grading, stringing, bending, welding, coating, trenching, lowering-in and backfill.

Road and water crossings, trenchless crossing installation, and steep-terrain construction. We engage specialty subcontractors for HD bores and horizontal directional drilling (HDD), with Midwest coordinating and supporting the pipeline work.

View Sunrise Expansion assessmentHydrostatic testing, tie-ins, drying, nitrogen purging, cathodic protection installation and weld coating. Repair, maintenance and integrity assignments include pipe exposure, inspection support and pipeline coating repairs.

Midwest’s story began in Saskatchewan in 1974.
From its early work in facility construction, the business expanded into pipeline construction and established operations in the Edmonton region. Through changes in ownership and new partnerships, Midwest continued building its experience serving Western Canada’s energy industry.
Incorporated in Alberta in 2012, Midwest Pipelines Inc. is locally owned and headquartered in Spruce Grove. Today, we carry that tradition forward through experienced people, disciplined execution, and relationships built on trust.

Project-specific environmental plans, designated environmental leads and daily field coordination guide the work. Pre-work walkthroughs help crews understand site conditions and sensitive areas before construction begins.
Plan around watercourses, wetlands, wildlife habitat and nesting birds. Environmental plans address restricted activity periods, rare plants and archaeological resources.
Manage water, erosion and sediment through site-specific controls. Protect topsoil and plan drainage and restoration throughout construction.
Biosecurity measures address invasive weeds, clubroot and whirling disease. Equipment cleaning and site controls help prevent the spread of soil- and water-borne concerns.
Manage spills and waste, replace topsoil and restore disturbed areas. Final cleanup and reclamation are planned as part of the work.
